Why RealEyeTMMotion?
Despite significant progress in recent years, external beam radiation treatment of moving targets remains a significant challenge. Recent advances include 4DCT which provides measurement of the actual target movement for treatment planning and respiratory monitoring which provides an indication of the respiratory cycle during treatment. However, there remain significant issues of initial positioning, changes in the relationship between respiratory cycle and target position, and target drift during treatment, which still limit the accuracy with which moving targets can be treated, resulting in the need for large margins which increase the damage to healthy tissue. The solution to these challenges is to directly measure the target motion in realtime during treatment and use the actual target motion path at the time of treatment as the basis for target positioning and treatment adaptation. RealEyeTM Motion Overview
RealEyeTM Motion is an advanced software application add-on to the RealEyeTM system. It is designed to enable the monitoring and tracking of moving organs' paths throughout radiation therapy, ensuring precise treatment and minimizing the risk of damage to healthy tissue. Because RealEyeTM Motion tracks the moving target itself in realtime it has the potential to provide realtime information about changes in the target motion as well as drift or gross movement of the target during treatment. |
